So right now it looks like I'll be spending next semester in Osaka, Japan! :o

I will wring tech support's neck. Really. My computer was overheating and had issues turning on, so as it is still under warrenty I mailed it in to be fixed. Well, I recieved it today and guess what? Nothing has changed!!! I plugged it in, hit the on switch, and the same old problems occured. Could these techie gurus not even press the freaking on switch when they were finished with repairs!? Well, I guess their diagnostic machine didn't say so, so of course not. >.< I am pissed, mailing it out again tomorrow, and I better fucking have it back and working properly by the time I leave for college.

I know Otakon is this weekend, but I'm focusing on NYAF costumes because that's my next con. Haha. I wanted to cosplay as orange jumpsuit Gokudera from Katekyo Hitman Reborn, but I tried sewing it last night and I messed up the pattern alterations so it doesn't fit. And since I bought the last of the orange fabric at Joann's (and I am highly motivated to fiish a costume this week) I switched my costume to Hibari, who's my second favorite Vongola guardian. X3 And I don't really feel terribly self conscious of my height and face cosplaying him because he's in 8th grade. So it's ok if I look young and a little girly. I think his uniform is baggy enough to hide some of my curves (though it'll always be obvious I'm a female, lol. Yay childbearing hips!).

I wanted to try some male makeup techniques I saw on cosplay.com. This is all stuff I found around the house, so I know my eyeshadow is too sparkly. XD But this is the base idea. I have a nuetral brown eyeshadow on, and then a darker brown liner with black mascara. I also added a little black eyeshadow at the edges of my eyes, because Hibari's are very slanted. I also put coverup on my lips, and darkened my eyebrows. Then I did that thing where you put brown eyeshadow on your cheekbones... but I don't know how good it looks. When I try it a lot of the times they just look dirty. I think I need to try a different brush. I think it looks ok for a first try. He's young, so I think it's ok to put a little more around the eyes.

Oops, I kind of got caught up in writing. ^^;; Just trying to get my thoughts down somewhere I guess. I hope everyone on my flist who's going to Otakon has fun!

Uuuugh, patterns. X__X I'm kind of excited about NYAF, though. I think I can go for Saturday and Sunday this year because I have off college for a few days after. But again... ugh patterns. My dressform is crap and doesn't fit me right, so I had to do ten million adjustments on a pattern that should have been really easy. And it's still loose in the waist but since my fabric doesn't stretch and my darts don't reach that far down I think I'll just have to deal. But on the plus side it's Yuuko from xxxHolic, and I'm all about the slinky, sexy dress. Seriously, my dad saw the mockup and was like "Daughter! You're hanging out everywhere!" XD I'm afraid I might be skirting the line of taste vs accuracy in the breast area... well, we'll see once the dress is done.

I want to pick another costume for Sunday, though. I'm really into Gurren Lagann at the moment. It's so bizzarely awesome. "It's ok to punch someone if they make a mistake..." wtf, Gainax? XD And I know I'm behind on what's cool but I don't really watch anime during the school year so I go on binges during the summer. ^^;; We'll see what happens over the next two months.

Also new kitty has a fever. Poor Alien. T__T

Though right now I'm leaning towards not going to FIT. They give us, like, two weeks to do our portfolio, and some people haven't even gotten theirs until a couple of days before. They even lost this one guy's and didn't do anything about it. The more stories I hear the more I kind of... just, don't want to deal with them. Not to mention I'd have to do all this on top of 19 credits.

A full semester internship sounds more appealing to me. It would be helpful for making connections in the industry, and could potentially turn into a job. Most people I'd be going up against with an FIT degree would have a bachelors in New York, so I don't think the associates would matter that much. And my school has a very good placement rate with Nicole Miller, who is awesommmmme. I'd seriously be so happy if I got to intern there.

So... yeah. It looks like the new plan might be intern for Fall 2010, and study abroad in London for Spring 2010. Which is still exciting. I've been working two jobs this summmer and saving money for some possible traveling, but I might just spend it all in Camden Market. Because I have no self control. Mmmm... Doc Martens.

EDIT: Also we are getting a kitten. He is so ugly-cute and I hope Cleo doesn't eat him.

God it's so fucking depressing here. Every day the weather promises to be nicer tomorrow, and tomorrow comes and it's still fucking cold with snow flurries. I can't wait until Friday so I can go home.

Also got waitlisted for the Israel trip. Which I was kind of expecting anyway, so whatever. XP People who have been waitlisted get priority when they reapply, so that works.

Fun as always, although we missed the Robot Chicken panel because it was held in a smaller room. ;__; Stupid boat show. And I bought a Mooby's shirt from Clerks II! Haha. I'm going to get the visor and nametag as well, and then I'll have a comfy costume to wear around.
